Last year, over 94,000 fans watched as the Alabama Crimson Tide rolled over and knocked out the most successful QB in college history, Colt McCoy and his Texas Longhorns 37-21 to win the BCS Championship. Their meeting was the ninth in college football history and the first since their historic 1982 Cotton Bowl Classic when the Longhorns came back from a 12-0 deficit in the 4th quarter to win 14-12.

The "Granddaddy of them all," the Rose Bowl combines with the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl to form the Bowl Championship Series. The conference champions from the PAC-10, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and SEC receive automatic bids, with the remaining two slots being filled by top-ranked at-large teams. The BCS Championship Game rotates between each of the four bowls. The upcoming 2011 BCS Championship will be held in the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The bowl season kicks off way before the BCS gets going, though. Some of last year's most thrilling finishes and biggest upsets came in December.
